Hello God.  Today I helped a friend who had four feet of mud in their home from the floods.  There were many angels there as well helping to dig out and there was tremendous progress made.  Yet, as we do this, they don’t know if the home will be salvageable.  I guess the first step is to dig out the mud so we can see what is left.

Hello my love.  This is a beautiful metaphor for life.  It is really important to focus on removing what is not needed in order to see what is left, or to focus on what is before you in order make room for what is next.  You tend to want to see the end result or have some guarantee that it will be “what you are supposed to be doing” before you get started, so you find yourself waiting.  Yes, there are times when you are clear on the outcomes you want, and there are many people who believe that you must see the whole picture in order to achieve what you want.  But sometimes, you don’t get to.  You just have to trust.  So, today, pick up a shovel and see what is revealed.

I truly appreciate the feedback that I have received about these Daily Reminders.  I am touched and honored to share this experience, and that it has been helpful to so many people.  I am not one to like having routines and commit to doing something every day, but I can’t wait to do this writing.   Through several conversations about the Daily Reminders today, I began to think about what makes this experience so rich.  When I started I thought I would be sharing my Journals from the past 10 years. But all that changed with the flood.  I was pulled into what was emerging now.  With this, I have learned that all I have to do is show up.  And then, once I’m here, I ask my heart what wants to be asked or shared, and write it.  What happens next is truly miraculous.

Good Morning God. I’ve written a new song.  I always feel a little self conscious wondering if it is “good”, or if I have a right to call myself a musician, when there are so many around here who are “real musicians”?  But, there is also a part of me that has to write and share this experience – even as I am feeling fear.

“Hello my love.  The reality is that you will be judged and criticized, as that is what happens in the world that lives in fear.  The question is, do you want to honor the fear in yourself and others?   This is a key question.  Fear is the lie and the liar.  The truth is, what wants to come forth through you is beautiful, powerful and perfect.  And as I have said before, you are doing this for you, which is me, which is everyone.  Thank you for saying yes.

God, right now it seems that everyone is on edge, including me.  What’s going on?

Good Morning Love.  There are times when the friction of change feels like sandpaper as it takes off layers of what is no longer needed.  There is so much resistance to the changes that are being felt by everyone, and with that comes the opportunity (if you choose) to transform your irritation into compassion, and despair into creativity.  Take extra care to be kind to yourself and others – even when you don’t want to.  Now is the time to focus on what truly matters as this is what the changes are calling forth.  This is where the healing begins and a new way of being materializes.

Cleaning all day yesterday with supplies delivered by the Red Cross, and facilitated by hands of angels from Santa Clara UMC.   I’m grateful and also curious about this passage.

“Good Morning Love.  You are beginning to realize that you are supported by me, in every way.  You are getting to experience My Love, through the actions of strangers.  You are realizing that Love is the underlying current of life and that giving and receiving it is the point of everything.  It is up to you to learn to trust this, as I do not command you to do anything.  I do invite you to love.  But, you have complete free will.  When it is your choice and comes from what is true for you, then you will truly be giving and receiving its gifts.

Yesterday I cried.  Not when I had to throw away my favorite books.  Not when I found the only records of my past art career ruined.  But when I found the photos of my dad, covered in mud.  I also cried when talking with some volunteers who were offering cleaning buckets and a myriad of support to our devastated town.  The emotional experience of this seems to come in waves.  I’m finding that within the pain there are some amazing gifts.  One gift is the opportunity to see angels. 

“Hello My Love.  Yes, opportunity is the perfect word.  Though this experience is not one that you would have chosen, the opportunity to receive an outpouring of love has been given you.  And most of all, you are finding that the veil has been lifted and that all there truly are, are angels.

Good Morning God.  It was a beautiful fall day yesterday and I was able to get some work done and get outside.  I was also aware of falling back into some of my old patterns of judgement and fear.  I don’t want to go back.  I know that I don’t want to stay in the pain of the trauma, but I do want to keep my heart open.  Help me to be present with what is and feel what is coming through.

“Hello My Love. Just your awareness and desire to be present and let go of judgement will help you keep your heart open.  And your daily Spiritual Practice is the conduit to truly experiencing this opening and connection.  Be compassionate with yourself even as you find yourself in what you call your “old patterns”.  Every moment is a new opportunity to show up in a new way.  Bring your attention to your heart as you again remember what it feels like to be open.  Touch into that space and feel the love that is always flowing within you.  This is where you will find peace with what is and feel your connection to me.

Good Morning God. Tonight I heard more stories from people in Lyons about their experiences with the flood.  I’m meeting people that I haven’t met before and finding an amazing community through this extraordinary event.  I am also hearing that people are experiencing a range of feelings from extreme devastation to empowered optimism.  How can I help those in the most need?

“Hello My Love.  Everyone will have their own experience with this event and what wants to happen for the highest good for all is what will happen.  I encourage you and everyone to let go of the story and trust the unfolding.  Like the river finding its new course, everyone is also finding their new course with the changes.  This is a beautiful opportunity – if you embrace it as such.  You can also resist what is happening, but that will only cause you more pain.  Look for the truth and trust. Let go.  The answers will become obvious in time just like the new course of the river will be revealed once the water goes down.  Focus on what is before you.  Invite people to listen to what is calling them now.  That really is all there is to do.

Good Morning God.  It felt good to do some work today and focus on projects for my clients.  The day seemed to have some sense of normalcy to it.  But as I say that, I realize that there is no such thing as normal any more. 

“First of all, you have never wanted to be normal, so why are you looking for it?  I think what you are implying is that normal means predictable and predictable means safe.  And right now you are wanting to feel safe.  So today, I am offering a true Daily Reminder to connect to me every day and remember the truth of who you are.  Make this the new normal.  Then, no matter what is happening you will always know that you are safe.

Good Morning God.  I am so grateful for the love and support that I am receiving from everyone, especially from one person with whom I have had some challenges with in the past.   It is not lost on me that there is great healing and growth that many of us are experiencing in our relationships as we are dealing with displacement, trauma and need.  I am receiving this love with awe and profound gratitude.  

“Yes!  As we have talked about looking for what matters most, you are realizing that THIS is what matters most.  The love that you give and receive is the real currency of life.  The gifts you give and receive that come from this love is what heals and creates a world of beauty and harmony.  And sometimes the ones you thought you didn’t want are exactly the ones with the greatest gifts for you.  Welcome to the irony of life.

Good Morning God.  This has been a full day with packing, sorting and picking through the mud.  Even though I have lost some things, I know how fortunate I am in only being slightly inconvenienced, compared to many of my friends and neighbors whose lives have been hugely disrupted.  Still, I am feeling sad and sometimes overwhelmed.

“Hello my love.  You have a beautiful capacity to care and you are feeling the pain of the great losses around you.  What is happening in your life is one example of the many events that are helping people to awaken to their connection to this planet and each other.  Humans are finding that they are not in control of nature (or anything) and that what you used to hold on to no longer supports you.  You are being given more opportunities to surrender and be with what is.  This is the lesson for now.  And the real transformation that is happening is awakening to a new source of safety and security.  You have known this for a long time.  You are now getting to remember this at a deeper level than ever before.  Maybe it will take losing your home to realize that it was never really your home, and that you are always home when you are with me.  This is what Your Sacred Journey Home is all about.
