Good morning God.  Please help me deal with someone who is acting out in anger and fear.  You have told me not to honor fear, but I don’t know what to do with this.

“Good morning my love.   Can you see that they are crying out for love?  You can “be the change” by being the first one to put down your sword.  Because the truth is you are not enemies.  You are family.  And you don’t have to fight to get what you want.  In fact, this is a mistaken belief.  What you want is love – and you only get love when you give love.  Because ultimately, there is only one of you.

Yesterday I went for a beautiful hike on Rabbit Mountain with a new friend I met while taking pictures on the street in Lyons.  Since the flood, people are engaging with others more readily, and we began on conversation that has wanted to continue.  One of the themes that came up again for me is about perspective and focus.  We talked about wanting to be creative, and make a difference in the world, yet lamenting the challenges and unfairness inherent in our society.  As we were talking we suddenly stopped and looked out across the valley.  In this moment I was reminded that we actually have a choice in each moment – focus on what is wrong, or see the beauty.  In that moment we focused on the beauty.

“Good morning my love.  This is a theme that everyone is facing now.  In this world you have free will and what you have free will over is what you give your attention to, and what you do with it.  Many people don’t feel they have a choice.  But when you truly step into taking responsibility for your life, you realize that it is all your choice.  I’m not talking about the flood being your choice (directly), but how you think about it, and what you do in reaction or response to it, is up to you.  It is important to take it all in and be with it, and sometimes you just have to stop and look around and remember that this life is beautiful!

Good morning God.  Yesterday I shared my song and stories of the flood with a group of people who each had their own version of how they experienced the floods.  Some were stories of being away and not directly effected, yet, still very much emotionally connected.  It was a beautiful experience of getting to see our connected reality through our individual experiences.  I was even able to share the song with someone who directly inspired one of the verses!

“Good morning love!  What a wonderful gift you all gave to each other.  As you share your individual stories around these shared events, you begin to know how connected and related you truly are.  Your individual experience here on earth is unique, yet is still part of the one human story.  Take this opportunity to realize that you are all creating this story together and that there truly is only one of you; which is Me.

Good Morning God.  Today I rode my bike around Lyons and saw so much destruction that I don’t think I can truly take it all in.  But what hit me the most was two conversations I had with two different people I know.  One was with a woman who was very angry and complained about FEMA, the town government, the volunteers, and the river.  The other woman talked about how inspired she is, the gratitude she has, and how excited she is for the potential in re-creating.  What was interesting is that the first woman had minimal damage to her home, and the second woman has to practically rebuild from ruin.  How can people have such different perspectives?

“Hello my love.  First of all, both of these are normal and natural.  Going through anger and despair is understandable, as is gratitude and optimism.  Have compassion for people (and yourself) who are struggling with these events.  But you know you ultimately have a choice around your perspectives about everything. You have heard the saying; the glass is half empty or half full.  Well it is both, and the truth is you can focus on one or the other.  Both exist at the same time, and both are fine.  It is up to you to choose. But you have discovered that moving out of anger and fear and into acceptance and hope is a much more comfortable place to be.  You have learned that coming from love opens the door to infinite possibilities. This is awakening to the power you possess.  This is the key to manifesting miracles.  And you must choose this until you realize that you are this.

Hello God.  Today I helped a friend who had four feet of mud in their home from the floods.  There were many angels there as well helping to dig out and there was tremendous progress made.  Yet, as we do this, they don’t know if the home will be salvageable.  I guess the first step is to dig out the mud so we can see what is left.

Hello my love.  This is a beautiful metaphor for life.  It is really important to focus on removing what is not needed in order to see what is left, or to focus on what is before you in order make room for what is next.  You tend to want to see the end result or have some guarantee that it will be “what you are supposed to be doing” before you get started, so you find yourself waiting.  Yes, there are times when you are clear on the outcomes you want, and there are many people who believe that you must see the whole picture in order to achieve what you want.  But sometimes, you don’t get to.  You just have to trust.  So, today, pick up a shovel and see what is revealed.

I truly appreciate the feedback that I have received about these Daily Reminders.  I am touched and honored to share this experience, and that it has been helpful to so many people.  I am not one to like having routines and commit to doing something every day, but I can’t wait to do this writing.   Through several conversations about the Daily Reminders today, I began to think about what makes this experience so rich.  When I started I thought I would be sharing my Journals from the past 10 years. But all that changed with the flood.  I was pulled into what was emerging now.  With this, I have learned that all I have to do is show up.  And then, once I’m here, I ask my heart what wants to be asked or shared, and write it.  What happens next is truly miraculous.

Good morning God, last night I played my new – quite unpracticed song at the Town of Lyons community meeting for several hundred people. I was nervous, but I’m glad I did it.

Good Morning God. I’ve written a new song.  I always feel a little self conscious wondering if it is “good”, or if I have a right to call myself a musician, when there are so many around here who are “real musicians”?  But, there is also a part of me that has to write and share this experience – even as I am feeling fear.

“Hello my love.  The reality is that you will be judged and criticized, as that is what happens in the world that lives in fear.  The question is, do you want to honor the fear in yourself and others?   This is a key question.  Fear is the lie and the liar.  The truth is, what wants to come forth through you is beautiful, powerful and perfect.  And as I have said before, you are doing this for you, which is me, which is everyone.  Thank you for saying yes.

God, right now it seems that everyone is on edge, including me.  What’s going on?

Good Morning Love.  There are times when the friction of change feels like sandpaper as it takes off layers of what is no longer needed.  There is so much resistance to the changes that are being felt by everyone, and with that comes the opportunity (if you choose) to transform your irritation into compassion, and despair into creativity.  Take extra care to be kind to yourself and others – even when you don’t want to.  Now is the time to focus on what truly matters as this is what the changes are calling forth.  This is where the healing begins and a new way of being materializes.

Cleaning all day yesterday with supplies delivered by the Red Cross, and facilitated by hands of angels from Santa Clara UMC.   I’m grateful and also curious about this passage.

“Good Morning Love.  You are beginning to realize that you are supported by me, in every way.  You are getting to experience My Love, through the actions of strangers.  You are realizing that Love is the underlying current of life and that giving and receiving it is the point of everything.  It is up to you to learn to trust this, as I do not command you to do anything.  I do invite you to love.  But, you have complete free will.  When it is your choice and comes from what is true for you, then you will truly be giving and receiving its gifts.

Yesterday I cried.  Not when I had to throw away my favorite books.  Not when I found the only records of my past art career ruined.  But when I found the photos of my dad, covered in mud.  I also cried when talking with some volunteers who were offering cleaning buckets and a myriad of support to our devastated town.  The emotional experience of this seems to come in waves.  I’m finding that within the pain there are some amazing gifts.  One gift is the opportunity to see angels. 

“Hello My Love.  Yes, opportunity is the perfect word.  Though this experience is not one that you would have chosen, the opportunity to receive an outpouring of love has been given you.  And most of all, you are finding that the veil has been lifted and that all there truly are, are angels.
