September 14th
Sorry I missed yesterday’s Daily Reminder. As you probably know, I live in the small town of Lyons, CO. At 2:30 am, Sept. 13th, we were evacuated from our homes as our town began experiencing its worst flooding in over 100 years. Some of you in the Colorado Front Range may be experiencing similar problems and I send my prayers to you. I am fine, and my things are actually in good shape with just a few things ruined in my garage. Unfortunately, my beautiful town and the lives of many of my friends have been changed forever.
Still, I had the opportunity to see this incredible community of people looking out for each other and making sure everyone had shelter, food, and supplies. I witnessed people who lost everything worried more about their neighbors needs, and many who were safe, offering their homes to strangers. I didn’t have a chance to meditate and write, but I continued to ask God “what is mine to do and what is mine to witness.” And in the midst of the destruction I felt deep sadness, grief, awe, and gratitude – and I have cried. But as God wrote to me in one of my Journals, “If you did not love, then you could not cry”. So I am crying with immense love and gratitude for this life and for everyone in it – including you.
Blessings,
